30th birthday card & crafting therapy

Hello Friends,

Crafting therapy is what I need right now, we had some awful news yesterday so in between thinking and praying as hard as I can, for a very special person in our family, I made a couple of cards.  The first one I made and posted without even thinking about photographing it, it just had to be sent!

Some of the nicest, kindest and most generous people sometimes get really sick and we can't help, we can't mend them, we want to - desperately, we want to take the pain that they are feeling and the pain away from close family members and make sick people better, but we can't.  We have to leave it to the specialist doctors and the power of prayer trusting them totally.  I'm personally praying those doctors can help our family member right now.  If you are reading this please pray too.  Thank you.

I've got lots of cards to make right now, I haven't actually felt like making cards for some time, my shoulder has been giving me jip and we've got a major refurbishment project going on in our home but making my special card this morning did remind me of the therapy card making gives me and I went on to make a card for a 30th birthday.  My friend's daughter is 30 on Easter Monday and I wanted her to have a nice card from us, this is what I made for her.......

I hope she will like it.  I really must tidy away my crafty stash now, whilst saying another prayer.  Wishing you all a very blessed and peaceful Easter.

Double Slider Card - ColourQ challenge #181

Hello Friends,

I'm back home again after another couple of days away - being an "Angel"!

It's my card making and scrapbooking event this coming Saturday and I wanted to show "my ladies" something a little different this month, so  after racking that old brain of mine I came up with this really lovely card.

The colour combination came from the ColourQ Challenge site, as soon as I saw those colours together I knew my next card would be blue and yellow!

The Stamp Set I used was a new one that I've just bought from Stampin' Up called "Make a Wish".

Hope you find some time to craft today.

Silhouette Cameo Lesson

Hello Friends,

I seem to have been busy giving private Silhouette Cameo lessons again, with that and all the travelling I've been doing, I haven't had time to design cards, let alone blog them!

I think, with my crafting time being reduced because of work (I'm not complaining ;) - just saying lol!!!) and the extra time it looks like I will spend travelling from now on, I think CASEing is going to have to be my way forward!

I used to spend hours designing cards, I love designing but it takes so much time and with so many fresh and beautiful ideas on the internet, it hardly seems worth my time to redesign the wheel every single time I want to make a card!  I take my iPad everywhere and surf whenever I have a spare moment, it is a great way to pass the time when I'm away from home.  I've even started to send myself emails with links to the cards I like, so that I can find them again when I'm home and have time to create.

I found this lovely card the other day.  I loved the colours especially.  After spending this morning with a lovely lady having a private Silhouette lesson with me about how to do a couple of things in the Silhouette software that she was unsure of, I decided to make a card similar to the card I'd seen, using my Silhouette.  After all I bought my computer and Silhouette down from my very untidy office and with it all clear in my dining room, I took the opportunity to mess that up too!

This is my take on the card I CASE'd.  I thought I'd share with you all how I plan a card using the Silhouette Software.....

In "My own designs" I have a file saved with a rectangle the size of the mat for the front of a normal C5 card, with that selected and bought onto my working screen I can start to make pieces that fit what will be the finished card.  If I'm using patterned paper, I select the shape that will be cut out and fill it with a pattern from the Silhouette Library.  I have also started to use a different colour line for the outline of shapes that will be eventually cut in different colours.  It only takes seconds when designing the card but saves minutes when you come dissect all the parts ready to cut.

You can see that after I had designed the card I dissected it all.  I used colours similar to those that I used to eventually cut and placed them on the cutting mat in the places where my Silhouette Cameo was going to cut.

In actual fact, I did make a new file for the print and cut "Easter Blessings" message, but decided against using the message and stamped my sentiment on the reverse instead!

This does show, however, how I do use my Silhouette Software to design my cards, which is what I really wanted to show you today.

I hope you have time to craft soon.  It's my big crafting event a week tomorrow in Abingdon, let me know if you'd like a place.

Enjoy.

Studio 490 - Clearly for Art Modeling Film

Hello Friends,

Just popping into today with a card I've made using Studio 490 Art Parts, Clearly for Art, Modeling Film.  I found my pack whilst sorting out my stash the other day and put it on my desk to use!

Whilst surfing yesterday I found this lovely card and tag and thought I'd CASE it.  Sometimes we just need to make a card in a bit of a hurry and CASEing is often the only answer.

Here is my version.......

I hadn't thought to use the Modeling Film on this card, but was really pleased when I added it.  It took a little time to stamp, emboss and cut it out by hand, but worth it, I thought.  I placed it over the original stamped and gold embossed image.

The flower stamp is a Hero Arts stamp and the sentiment is an American Art Stamp.  The paper is a freebie from a magazine.

I hope you have some time to craft soon!

Thanks for stopping by today.
