Online Card Classes - Maskerade! Day 4

Hello Friends,

It supposed to be my busiest day of the month and what am I doing? Hmmmm, some of you know me, don't you!  I've been playing!  I'm totally caught up in this great Online Card Class, I just have to make something every day, if I can, whilst it's live!

Today we were learning about using freezer paper for masking.  To be totally honest, it doesn't seem to have worked well for me.  I don't think I have the correct stuff :(!  I've tried glassine paper and waxed food paper, but neither worked for me today!

So in my haste to make something and to get very similar results, I used a very old technique.  I clear embossed the leaves image with clear embossing powder, did all the stamping and then covered the image with copier paper and ironed off the embossing powder from my artwork - phew!

I water colored the background first, but it wasn't great and as I'd messed around for far too long today (my busiest day of the month), I decided to use my ink blending tool and blend ink all over to cover up a pretty blotchy background!

I went for a very quick and simple mount, for my card!

Got to dash, I've got 18 crafty ladies to entertain tomorrow ;)!

Have a happy and crafty weekend.

Online Card Classes - Mask-erade! - Day 3

Hello Friends,

I'm sharing a card inspired by Shari Carroll with you today.  The Mask-erade class continues today, with those talented ladies sharing more ideas on masking.

Here is my card....

These classes get me thinking outside of my little box and get me using product I don't often use!  The background stamp on this card is called "Off the Grid" by Stampin' Up, which I found in one of the many boxes of retired stamps I have, unused (sshhh!).

I hope you enjoy looking at my card today, thanks for stopping by.

Happy crafting.

Online Card Classes - Mask-erade! Day 2

Hello Friends,

Those very talented and gorgeous ladies have another Online Card Class for us :)!  It's all about masking techniques, something I'm fairly familiar with but it's still nice to take the class to see how those ladies interpret the different types of masking that we can do.  It also spurs me on to craft outside of my normal style!

I'm starting a day late, I was so involved in my Cameo Silhouette yesterday that I didn't manage to make a card for yesterday's class but I will try and catch up next week, as it was certainly an inspiring day.

The card I'm sharing today is just one idea, Kristina used embossing paste.  She masked off a section for her sentiment, put a stencil over it and stenciled through with three different colours of embossing paste.  I only used two colours on my card!

I have had to dry this with my hair dryer.  Trimming the edges wasn't easy either, as I'd have liked to have done that tomorrow, but I used a piece of wax paper between the image and my trimmer to guard my delicate (almost set) embossing paste to guard it!

Any way, here it is....

..... definitely not my usual style but I'm pleased with it and we all love giraffes in this home and I've had the stencil in it's new packet for far too long ;)!

If you want to learn more about using Masking in your card making, the link to the class is just over on the right of my blog!

Thanks for popping by today and happy crafting.

Misti Stamping tool & Silhouette Cameo

Hello Friends,

I've made a card for a friend today using my two favourite pieces of equipment, my Misti and my Silhouette Cameo.

I watched a YouTube video about how to stamp around a circle, so was itching to have a go!

I tried a short simple word (May) to start with and was so pleased with the result, I made it into a card.  The die cuts on the front are all Nestabilities by Spellbinders, the card stock is by Stampin' Up and the base, circle card, is made using my Silhouette Cameo - perfect ;)!

I hope you like my card, thanks for popping by today.

Happy crafting.

Misti, Silhouette Cameo PixScan & Stampin' Up

Hi Friends,

My Stampin' Up upline has organised a group card swap.  The criteria is that we are only allowed to use products that will be in the new 2015-2016 annual Stampin' Up catalogue.  Here is what I've made.....

There is a whole lot of stampin' going on, on these cards and having the Misti certainly made it quicker, even then it seems to have taken all day to make 9 cards, I'm a slow worker ;)!

I also used the new PixScan feature and mat on my Silhouette Cameo to cut around the flowers, it was certainly a lot easier than I first thought it would be.  I'll be using that again for sure!

If you want any detailed information about the cards, please email me.

Happy crafting and thanks for popping by today.
